Setting metrics gives a numerical, tangible goal and expectation so your employees are completely clear on their responsibilities and can also update you on progress with detail.

Most of us entrepreneurs out there are type A personalities: overachieving, independent and a force to be reckoned with. We also don’t ever ask for help or we think that if we ask for help it is a sign of weakness. News flash: this isn’t true!

 

I am doing this episode today to remind you that without putting energy in your body, you won’t be able to achieve anything in life. Sometimes we need guidance or help from others to fuel our tanks back up to 100%. Remember, when you improve your health, you WILL grow your wealth!

I want to take a moment to address a rumor going around in the entrepreneurial space. Many of you are having a hard time crossing that bridge from super employee to CEO. Part of that struggle is knowing when to go from outsourcing your work to building your own team.

 

In this episode I am pulling back the curtain on how important it is to have a team that wants the business to grow just as much as you do. Leadership can be a scary part of the entrepreneurial journey when making the transition from employee to CEO. Being in charge and hiring a team is only a small fraction of what defines great leadership.

 

Certified leadership coach and expert John Thalheimer is sharing how we can take the first steps in becoming a more effective leader. He reminds us that leadership is not a place or destination, but a practice. It is something we have to continue to work on and make time to really master it.

 

(1:55) “...how important that executive presence is. The ability to go out and talk, and get your message across to other people. I think as entrepreneurs we always want to do that. How we want to do that and what’s the right way. I think that part is really important to understand.”

 

(5:00) “The entrepreneur has a hard time of letting go and delegating. What happens is we are entrepreneurs right? We brought this great idea and we want to make it happen. We are so focused on the execution that we forget to step into that leadership role and go ‘wait I need to be a leader. I need to delegate out responsibilities’”.

 

(9:45) “When I’m working with managers and clients, I’m always telling them to spend as much time as necessary to hire the right person. A lot of the times we get into this situation as a manager or as a leader, we’ll just say we need someone in here. I just need someone to do that. So we hire somebody and then in the long term we spend a lot of time with their performance.”

Getting started on your entrepreneurship journey means not always expecting the bumps and chaos that come along for the ride -- but I want to challenge you to have FUN with the unexpected!

 

Break the rules, do something different, and be open to testing new strategies. Stagnation never equals growth, but having fun with your business will let you fall back in love with it every day.



(0:44) “Chances are, when you got started on this crazy journey of building your business you had no idea what was ahead. Maybe if you did you wouldn’t have ever started to begin with. The truth is, once you cross that bridge into entrepreneurial freedom you will realize it was all worth it times a million. You wouldn’t change a thing.”

 

(4:30) “The reason why this was so successful, the reason that program is filled now, the reason why it was such an easy fill for us…. It was such an easy launch for us and so much fun because we set the intention of being totally present in service. We set the intention of having FUN!”

 

(7:40) “You are not going to have the passion and the fire burning hard enough and bright enough to get where you want to be. There is going to be an end to that. So how do you get reinvigorated? You’ve heard it a million times (and you might roll your eyes at it): MINDSET. What today’s episode will do is encourage you to do is specifically to switch from a tactical mindset to a strategic mindset -- so you can make more, work less, and feel more fulfilled in your work.

 

Kim Ades, Founder and President of the Frame of Mindset Coaching (and author and speaker) shares how by taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture, we can go from just ‘doing things’ to discovering what really drives us.



(3:38) “Typically poor beliefs are the number one cause of bottlenecks. That’s it. So where do our beliefs get in our way? Well, let's say we want to grow our businesses. We say, ‘well we can’t. We have no money, we no resources, we have no people, we have no skills.’ Those are all beliefs….We always want to be challenging those beliefs” -- Kim Ades

 

(12:20) “You are the owner of your business. You know every single nook and cranny in the business and now it’s time to hand it over to someone else. Your baby. That is a tough thing to do. Building a business online can be difficult at times. Especially when you are putting in all the work to write content, serve your audience, and connect with people but get no interaction. It is the bain of almost every entrepreneur who is running an online business.

 

The best way to get engagement is to simply engage with your audience! Yes, it truly is that simple - automation is a thing of the past and simply scheduling posts and videos isn’t going to cut it anymore.

 

Make the first move, engage first, make it personal, direct message them, or get them on the phone. Remember: YOU set the expectation of your brand for your community.

 

(1:11) “If you want to get them to engage… engage! Which sounds pretty simple but it’s really what’s lacking out there today. Most of us want to put out automated posts, generic tips, pre-recorded video.”

 

(3:34) “The thing that now is going to get people to notice you online and truly build raving fans and an audience, an audience of impact that will allow you to build your business. It’s going to come from you engaging first.”

 

(6:05) “You’re not talking about needing millions of followers. You’re not talking about needing thousands of fans. You’re talking about connecting with real humans in a meaningful way, that is going to engage them on an individual, custom level. In such a way that will get them bought into you, bought into your brand.”

Tony Robbins always says it’s never a lack of resources, but a lack of  resourcefulNESS when it comes to success, especially in business.

 

Being resourceful when it comes your business is going to be a mental and mindset shift that you will have to achieve in order to reach the next level. We have more free resources in today's business world than ever before.

 

You likely have more assets than you are regularly thinking about each day. After today’s episode, start to look at your list of investments and expenses so you can begin a plan to 10x ALL of them. Learn more in the episode!

 

(4:03) “We all have these unbelievable ressources at our fingertips and yet people are still always struggling to find a way to grow. It really poses the question, have we evolved and then devolved to the point of really losing that capacity to really be resourceful. Really think about what that means.”

 

(6:15) “I really want to challenge you to go through every asset, every expense and resource that you have. Really spend some time asking yourself, what do I need to change about how I am utilizing this thing, this resource that I have, to 10X the return on investment on it?”

 

(9:47) “We can all be more resourceful with our phones from video to using the app on Instagram and private messaging people. To LinkedIn messaging campaigns to Facebook, creating groups and bringing value there. By the way all these things I just mentioned are free. There are endless ways for all of us to be far more resourceful in the things, both free and paid in our business.”
